The Institute on Teaching and Mentoring is a gathering where scholars from around the country come to connect, share ideas and prepare for a career of teaching and research.
Last year, the SREB DSP selected 16 scholars that not only attended the Institute, but have used the skills they acquired there and in their doctoral program to bring lasting change to serious issues.
Discrimination, concussions, limb regeneration, gender bias, cancer prevention, HIV testing improvements, etc. are all topics these scholars are tackling.
Some are tenured, and a couple are still in their doctoral programs. However, they have in common the motivation to see change and leave the world in a better place than they found it.
