The 2019 Institute on Teaching and Mentoring will be held on October 24 - 27, 2019.

Stay connected before and during the Institute on Teaching and Mentoring by downloading the app Guidebook that is available for iOS and Android devices. Registration to the Institute is by invitation only. All attendees including speakers, recruiters, scholars, and guests to the Institute must register online. A LOGIN ID and instructions on how to register will be issued by SREB to all invitees.  Registration will open on July 15, 2019.


The cost for one scholar to attend the Institute is $956.00. This covers the following:

Lodging in a double room (2 persons per room) for 3 nights @ $87.00 per night       

$261.00 per scholar

All conference meals (Thursday evening to Sunday morning excluding dinner on Saturday evening) - $320 per scholar            

Registration fee (includes all conference materials) - $375 per scholar


The cost for one Director/Coordinator/Guest to attend the Institute is $1,217.00. This covers the following:

Lodging in a single room (1 person) for 3 nights @ $174.00 per night

$522.00 per director/coordinator

All conference meals (Thursday evening to Sunday morning excluding dinner on Saturday evening) - $320 per director/coordinator            
Registration Fee (includes all conference materials) - $375 per director/coordinator

Online registration for the Institute will close on October 11, 2019.  Anyone interested in registering for the Institute after October 11th, will be required to register on-site with the correct form of payment in hand.

The closest and preferred airport is Hartsfield-Jackson International Airport in Atlanta, Georgia.

Most of the air travel arrangements will be made by SREB’s travel consultant Ms. Betty Brooks, Travel Leaders,, 770-216-8603.

Airline tickets are non-refundable. If you do not use your airline ticket, you are responsible to reimburse SREB for the price of that ticket, no exceptions.

All conference activities will take place at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis, and Institute attendees will be booked at this hotel. When you register for the Institute, you are automatically reserved a room at the Atlanta Marriott Marquis. The hotel will require either a credit card or debit card upon check in. If this hotel is fully booked, we will use an overflow hotel.

Hotel Confirmations

Recruiters ‚Äč- You will be responsible for making your own hotel reservations, and you will receive confirmations directly from the hotel. 

           Scholars, Guests, Speakers and all others - Confirmations for your hotel room will be sent to you approximately 2-3 weeks before the Institute.

Hotel Check-In

All attendees must check in at the hotel upon arrival for the first night reserved. The hotel will charge SREB for the first night’s room fee for all “no shows” and they will resell the remaining reserved rooms. We reserve the right to charge the hotel fee to anyone who does not cancel 72 hours prior to their check in date.

Hotel Cancellations

Scholars, Guests, Speakers and others - If you are not able to attend the Institute and must cancel your registration and hotel reservations, please contact Ms. Cherryl Arnold via email at All hotel cancellations must be made by Friday, October 1, 2019. Failure to cancel by this date may result in additional charges or forfeiture of registration fees.

Conference meals include the following:

Saturday night is free time for all attendees and dinner will be at your own expense and not reimbursable. Food, entertainment, souvenirs and travel expenses for Saturday are not reimbursable. For restaurants in the area use map on the Guidebook App.




The Institute on Teaching and Mentoring Agenda will be distributed to more than 1,000 attendees including speakers, sponsors and recruiters.
